Interested in having the treatment? This describes in more detail what is involved.
1. Book in for a consultation to discuss your needs in more detail. The consultation itself lasts about one hour. I will talk with you to thoroughly understand what you are looking to achieve and to make sure that semi-permanent make-up is the right choice for you. I will also give you a skin test of the pigments and soothing balm used to minimise the risk of complications. For this reason the consultation will need to be at least 2 days before the treatment. The price paid for the consultation is redeemable against the course of the treatment should you decide to go ahead.
2. Decide to go ahead and book in for the treatment. As it is a big decision I will do my utmost to ensure that the salon has a calm and relaxed atmosphere for you so that you can enjoy having the treatment done. I also recommend that you bring with you your normal make-up (e.g. lipstick, eyeliner, etc.) so that we can discuss colours in more detail and to ensure that you have a good idea of what the result will look like.
Once you are relaxed I will go through some of the details we talked about in the consultation to make sure that these still reflect your desires. I will then go over the shape, measurement and colour choices with you, taking into account your own personal colourings and what procedure you are having. (For more specific details look at the eyebrows, eyes or lips pages).
3. The treatment itself It shares some similarities to 'tattooing' and follows the same basic principle. The technology that I have chosen uses extra fine needles that causes less trauma to the area. Your chosen pigment is then placed under the dermal layer of the skin following the shape and size agreed. Some clients have actually fallen asleep during the treatment and others have likened it to having their eyebrows tweezered but if you feel any discomfort during the treatment further soothing balm can be applied. The treatment lasts between 2 and 3 hours.
4. After the treatment Everyone is different - some may feel some mild soreness whilst others will have no discomfort at all. For example, after an eyeliner procedure some have described it as having a really good cry, lip procedures may make your lips feel tight, eyebrows may feel 'itchy' , etc. In all cases you will be left to relax for a few minutes with some soothing pads before I discuss in detail the aftercare advice and instructions on how to use the balm that will be provided. If you have an eyeliner procedure I will also provide a hypo-allergenic mascara if you do not wish to be without! If you decide you want to change the colour or want a different shape / thickness then a further charge is payable.
5. Follow-up treatment Depending on the area treated, a number of follow-up treatments may be included free of charge which are optional but strongly recommended to give you the best results and to 'perfect' the look. These follow-up sessions must be taken within 3 months of the original treatment. Before the treatment is started great time and care is taken in agreeing the right shape and colour as these cannot be easily changed afterwards. If you decide you want to change the colour or want a different shape / thickness then a further charge is payable.
6. Maintenance As the pigment is applied in the top layers of the skin they do shed away over time (usually between 3 - 5 years) and will lead to the colour fading and having less definition. A number of clients will therefore return every two years for a 'colour refresh' to maintain the look and to avoid it disappearing and therefore requiring the 'full' treatment again (e.g. full price charge).
